Crow's feet

Crow's feet and laugh lines

Crow’s feet, everyone knows them. Some people are charmed by them, other people are terribly annoyed by them. They are the wrinkles beside the eye that become visible when you laugh and when you squint your eyes (e.g. look at the sun). Laugh lines are the wrinkles under the eye and are caused by the same muscle.

Wrinkles become more pronounced as the wrinkle sets in more frequently and due to the aging process of the skin whereby the skin becomes thinner and less strong.

Do your crow’s feet make you feel insecure? Or are there too many of them compared to the rest of your face? Crow’s feet can be made non active with a relatively simple treatment.

Treating crow's feet and laugh lines

The best-known treatment method involves injecting a muscle relaxant into the facial skin, which leads to temporary relaxation of the muscles that cause the unwanted wrinkles. Another, similar wrinkle treatment is the injection of a filler, which restores the volume of the skin for some time. So both treatments have only a temporary effect. For a more permanent solution to skin wrinkles, you can opt for a facelift. This procedure will tighten your skin a bit and will remove folds and wrinkles. Where necessary or desired, a facelift can also be performed on only a limited area of your face or neck.

FAQ

What are wrinkles?

A wrinkle is a fold in the surface of the skin. With a permanent wrinkle, there is a lack of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. As we age, these substances diminish and our skin becomes wrinkled and less smooth.

How do you get rid of wrinkles?

Facial wrinkles can be removed with fillers or a temporary muscle relaxant. Creams, on the other hand, are not able to bring volume into the skin or relax muscles.

What is collagen?

Collagen is responsible for the firmness of the skin. Translated from Greek, collagen means “to bind together”. This binding protein sticks tissues together, creating firm connections. Collagen makes up about 70% of your skin, and as it decreases, your skin becomes flabby and wrinkles more.

What is elastin?

Elastin is an elastic protein in connective tissue. This protein ensures that the tissue can stretch (elasticity). So your skin remains vital and elastic with elastin. As your skin contains less elastin, wrinkles develop and the skin starts to sag more.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid has the property of binding moisture. Its reduced presence results in sagging skin, wrinkles and loss of volume.

Do the fillers have a lasting effect?

The body breaks down fillers after about a year and then the treatment can be repeated.
There is no limit to how many treatments you can do in succession, but you should always take into account the quality of the filler and the doctor treating you.

I want a tighter face without surgery, is that possible?

Filling grooves and wrinkles with fillers increases volume in the face. It smoothes out sunken areas, fine or deep lines (e.g. wrinkles) and gives you a tighter-looking face. If the skin is very slack, a facelift, possibly in combination with a filler, can be a good solution.

Is it possible to remove wrinkles under the eyes?

The tear ducts are the deep wrinkles under the eyes. By filling the wrinkles under the eyes, the tear duct is less visible and this gives you a less tired look.

Can you remove the wrinkles on my forehead?

On the forehead, vertical permanent lines can appear between the eyebrows and horizontal wrinkles can be seen above the eyebrows. By treating the forehead muscle with a temporary muscle relaxant, the wrinkles on the forehead become less visible. Between the eyebrows, the cosmetic doctor can fill the frown line with fillers. The result: a relaxed and rested face.

What is the difference between crow's feet and laugh lines?

Laugh lines are the wrinkles under the eye and crow’s feet are next to the eye. The wrinkles are caused by the same muscle and the lines can be made less visible with a temporary muscle relaxant.

Are there different filler variants?

Each treatment area requires a different filler variant. For example, one is specially designed to bring volume back to large areas such as the cheeks, and another is ideally suited to filling smokers’ lines on the upper lip. Filling smokers’ lines requires a different substance, namely: the wrinkles are less deep and less filler is needed.

Can fillers also be used against my nose wrinkles?

Nasal wrinkles also known as Bunny lines are the wrinkles on the sides of the bridge of the nose. They occur as a result of overactive muscles in the nose. With a temporary muscle relaxant, nasal wrinkles can be corrected.

Can my crooked nose be corrected?

If you are discontented with the shape of your nose, a nose filler offers a good solution for a crooked nose, a hooked nose, a hanging nose tip or a hump on the nose. By filling in the bridge of the nose or lifting the tip of the nose for example, the nose can optically take on a straight shape. The cosmetic doctor uses temporary fillers for the nose, which are broken down by the body after one year. If you want to retain the result, you will need to repeat the treatment.
