Hyaluronic Acid

What is hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a substance in the body known for its ability to retain large amounts of moisture. This substance occurs frequently in our connective tissue and ensures, among other things, that the skin remains supple and elastic. You can see hyaluronic acid as a building block that keeps our skin flexible and moisturized. Because of these positive properties hyaluronic acid soon became a real trend in the beauty world: creams, serums and body lotions are full of it. But hyaluronic acid has also been embraced in cosmetic medicine, as its moisture retaining nature makes it the perfect base for fillers.

Hyaluronic acid fillers

With hyaluronic acid fillers, the cosmetic doctor uses a very thin hypodermic needle to insert this special substance into the desired areas. The hyaluronic acid then ensures that more moisture is retained in those places, so that thinning skin or wrinkles can easily be filled. This short treatment is virtually painless and the result is immediately visible – although some swelling may be visible in the first 24 hours. The effect is long-lasting, but not permanent: the results of a filler with hyaluronic acid remain visible up to 12 months. Then the treatment can be repeated.
